Pop 2, None Graded Higher

Addendum 10/21: According to population data provided to us by AFA, there are only 5 clear bubble examples across all grades.  Only 2 examples achieved AFA 85 with none higher.  It's unknown if the other AFA 85 example is still clear.

Rare high-grade, clear bubble example of popular character Stratos in early 8-Back form.  This is the red-winged Stratos variant.  There is also a blue winged Stratos and both red and blue are very difficult to find with clear bubble.  Collectors that prefer the red winged version will cite the match to the red winged image of the character on the back of the card.  

This is the highest graded example of Stratos we have ever offered.  An impressive AFA 85 overall grade, the crystal clear bubble separates this one from other examples.  The front of the card presents well with great color and eye appeal.  Flaws include several surface blemishes, most notably three along the left edge.  There is an inconspicuous horizontal vein at the top of the bubble on each end near the edge (just above mid-point on the card) - it’s important to note that it does not run through to the back of the card.  There is some light wrinkling next to the M in the MASTERS logo at the top that is visible only under perfect lighting conditions.  The back of the card exhibits light toning, a horizontal vein through Beastman, and evidence of price tag sticker residue over the UPC in the top corner.   Just like the Teela, at each lower edge, there appears to be two vertical lines of “bubbling” perhaps from the original heat transfer of the bubble onto the card – not uncommon for early 8-Backs.  The bubble is spectacular, it’s crystal clear, retains perfect form, and is firmly attached to the card with no lifting.  The red winged Stratos action figure showcased within is flawless, an AFA 90 subgrade, and still has the original rubber bands attached at his wrists. Includes King of Castle Grayskull mini comic.  In summary, an awesome high-grade example in early release.  This is a piece that many serious MOTU collectors still need complete their high-grade clear 8-Back run.   G2, Made in Taiwan. Encapsulated by AFA (85, 80-85-90), #10545598
