The hottest collectible in the hobby: an AFA red label Megatron. Considered a hobby trophy piece, there are very few collectors willing to part with theirs. Our consignor recently upgraded to an uber rare AFA 85, and we assure you, that’s the only reason this one is being made available. High-end collectors are well-aware that the supply has dried up - there are no red label Megatrons available in any marketplace. In our last auction, a 1980’s record was set when the AFA 85 Megatron sold for $57,596.
Our offered example doesn’t disappoint. A solid AFA 80 with desirable subgrades of 80, 85, 85. Iconic box art and large clear window showcase the piece beautifully. Clean box with great color and well-placed vintage Service Merchandiseprice tag sticker highlight the front panel. Imperfections are minor. Light surface wear on the bottom and side panel, horizontal vein on the front edge at midpoint, and light flap crease on the reverse are the imperfections of note. Factory tape adorns both ends and is reinforced by acrylic stabilizer bars on each end. P38 handgun and accessories present magnificently. Overall, an awesome piece, and one that continues to climb in value. We expect great action on this lot as October 29th approaches. Encapsulated by AFA (80, 80-85-85), #18649583
