The two most sought-after pieces in the 1989 MLB release are Tony Gwynn and Roberto Alomar. Both from the Padres, their SLUs were released in very limited quantities because of the small market in San Diego. You’ll be hard pressed to find a better example of an ’89 Gwynn. This one showcases factory fresh color on card, a white uniform with no yellowing on the figure, and a crystal clear bubble and tray that retains perfect form. Outside of a single blemish on the bottom corner of the card (almost out of sight), the card is perfect – completely free from creasing, veining, and edgewear front and back. An awesome example of a very rare SLU piece that advanced collectors will certainly have an eye on. Encapsulated by AFA (80, 80-80-80), #11686550
