A first-release Destro is on the short list of nearly every high-end 1980’s collector. Finding the first-release at an elite grade level is no easy task, they are buried deep in “black hole” collections. Card, bubble, and figure are immaculate. The card boasts excellent color and iconic Desto artwork. No creases, veins, or wrinkles to be found on the card, front or back. The bottom corner of the card includes the all-important “New!” text, showcasing, even without viewing the reverse, that it is indeed the first-release of Destro. The back of the card showcases the 20 characters offered as part of Series 2 in 1983. Figure and accessories bubbles are clear (no yellowing) and retain perfect form – no dents, no dings, no cracks. The Destro action figure contained within is a stunner, no waist or leg movement when tested, and certainly deserving of its “90” subgrade. Simply spectacular! An elite level example of the iconic 1980’s villain, the finest example to hit the open market.
