Ultra-rare He-Man and Wind Raider giftset from the Mattel Archives. Over the years, at various times, the Mattel Archives made vintage items available at their employee store as a perk for their employees. These items available in the store included stickers “For Mattel Employees Only” along with a blue “Archives” price tag sticker. The price on the sticker is what the employee paid for the item. Over the years, the store prices became much more expensive ($50, $60, $70, etc.). The items tagged with the most inexpensive stickers are thought to be amongst the earliest archival pieces made available at the employee store.

Offered here is an ultra-rare factory sealed He-Man and Windraider giftset from 1982. This is only the second time this special “Mattel Archives” giftset has been offered for public sale with the first sale realizing an impressive $16,250 in October 2023. It is the only one known to originate from the Archives. This is the first-release 8-back version, the giftset was later released in a 12-back version as well. Complete with two authentic Mattel Archives stickers and certified by CAS grading service, this one is sure to excite collectors that demand pristine provenance. Various imperfections are found throughout. Great color front and back. Window showcasing the He-Man action figure is crystal clear and He-Man is firmly secured to the cardboard backing. As it relates to rarity, AFA has graded only a total of 4 He-Man and Windraider giftsets in 25 years (inclusive of all grades). This AFA 80 example is one that many Masters of the Universe collectors will be keeping a close eye on.
