Rare and desirable Skeletor on second issue 8-Back card released as part of Series 1 in 1982. Skeletor on second issue 8-back card is widely thought to be his rarest 8-back release. Although this is not the ultra-valuable edition that combines a test market figure and mini comic on second release card (click here), our offered example is still quite rare.
One thing to note, AFA labeling has grouped all “w/o Warranty” 8-backs together (both the v1 test market card and v2 card) making it difficult to determine the true population of each. To be clear, the v1 test market card has the simplest reverse, the v2 card adds an SKU number under the name of each of the characters (for example: “No. 5042”), and the much more common v3 card adds a large warranty message to the bottom of the card.
Our offered example is quite unique. The rare v2 card has various blemishes front and back (subgrade 70) – see photos. This is often the case when such few surviving examples remain. The bubble, although yellowed, is superb, is firmly attached to the card, retains perfect form, and is free of dents and cracks. The Skeletor figure within is exceptionally unique in thathe is equipped with full boots, a feature typically reserved for the later 12-back release (8-back Skeletors have half boots). The action figure is in mint condition and behind him is Power of Point Dread mini comic. A very unique piece that will certainly get a hard look from MOTU veterans.
