The first release 8GB model peaked in price in February 2023, realizing $63,356, resulting in widespread media coverage from major outlets including CNN, NPR, BBC, and others.
Here we have an identical model in mint condition with outstanding provenance. Our offering is a rare, single owner example. It was consigned to LCG directly by the original owner, a former marketing manager who purchased the phone as part of a company promotion/giveaway that never happened. The phone was put in a box and forgotten about for nearly twenty years until it was rediscovered in a recent move – and immediately consigned to LCG. In addition to the phone itself, the winner will receive a detailed notarized letter of provenance from the original owner.
As for condition, this is one of the finest examples a collector can hope to find. After all, it was put away in a box where it remained untouched for almost 20 years. Front panel color is outstanding. No fading whatsoever. Factory seal is intact with desirable seam pattern along the sides and bottom panel. Phone is fully sealed all around with no tears or damage to the seal. No surface wear on the seal itself. Excellent display value highlights this iconic first-release model.
