Best example of VCJ we have ever offered: AFA 85-85-90
We are privileged to have the opportunity to offer such a legendary piece. Here we present a “holy grail” opportunity for many, the Vinyl Cape Jawa. This one at or near the top of just about every online “most wanted” or “most valuable” list of Star Wars retail releases. The Vinyl Cape Jawa loose figures sell for a fortune so to find an unopened, museum worthy example from 1978 is quite fortunate, to say the least.
Here we have an ultra high-grade Vinyl Cape Jawa from 1978 on 12 Back-A card. Highlighting the piece is an almost impossible AFA 90 subgrade assigned to the action figure itself. The figure subgrade is paramount in regard to VCJs in particular, because it indicates a vinyl cape without discoloration. Mint condition figures with outstanding vinyl capes are highly sought after by high-end collectors and typically carry a hefty premium. This one is a true gem, exceptional in all three areas: card, bubble, and figure. The card is gorgeous with vivid color and perfect registration. Imperfections are extremely minor and only upon careful inspection did we discover a very faint impression near the top of the card between the hangtab and the white price square of what we assume was once a price tag sticker. The reverse is virtually flawless and, like the front, is completely free of veins, creases, and surface wear. No color loss, no edgewear, or rabbit ear corners on this one! The bubble is crystal clear and retains great form free from dents, dings, and fractures. Overall, a tremendous example. We expect this lot will have its fair share of watchers. It's the nicest VCJ we have handled! A great opportunity for one lucky collector to place a true treasure into his display case. Encapsulated by AFA (85, 85-85-90), #14868805
