This lot is part of a world class collection that was carefully curated by a private high-end collector.  Never has a MASK collection of this caliber been offered in a single sale.  In fact, most of these pieces, especially in such exceptional condition, are extremely difficult to source.  The collection is highlighted by a complete set of Series 1 in FIRST RELEASE “Short Mask” form:

Series 1: Boulder Hill, Rhino, Switchblade, Jackhammer, Gator, Thunder Hawk, Condor, Piranha

Firecracker, also included as Long Mask, was added to the line later on as evidenced by early MASK advertisements (see photos).

Also part of this collection are Series 2 releases:

Series 2: Volcano, Hurricane, Vampire, Outlaw

Our Offered Lot:

We’re confident that many veteran collectors would agree that this piece is one of the most exciting in the entire Fall Premier lineup.  A premier 1980’s showstopper recognizable to collectors across all of the various toylines.

Here we have an amazing AFA 85 MISB Rhino with Bruce Sato and Matt Trakker action figures from Series 1.  This is a highly coveted, very difficult to find FIRST RELEASE “short mask”.  Five of the six panels are absolutely gorgeous.  The one imperfection of note is found on the bottom corner of the side panel where the AFA labels are found.  Outside of that and the upper corner of the reverse - flawless!  Amazing color and gloss, no price tag sticker residue, no surface wear, factory tape sealed on each end and no colorbreak whatsoever along the edges.  This one looks like it was pulled straight from a factory sealed case.  No doubt the best FIRST RELEASE Rhino to hit the market in years, we expect top collectors around the world to battle for this trophy piece.  Encapsulated by AFA (85), #3899267
