Offered here is a brand new 1989 WWF Wrestling Superstars MOC (mint on card), also known as the rare and desirable Series 6 "Black Card" series. LJN had abandoned the WWF line of wrestling figures prior to the anticipated release of these Series 6 figures.  As a result, Grand Toys, who was LJN's Canadian distribution partner, took over the WWF license in 1989 and moved forward with the same offshore production partnerships - changing the famous blue LJN card backs to black card backs.

In North America, availability of these black card figures was primarily limited to mail-in order or via purchase from select Canadian retail stores. Some of the black card figures were also made available in New Zealand and Australia because of a New Zealand distribution partnership with toy supplier Funmaker (who was known by their 'clown' logo sticker).

Given the limited distribution of the black card figures across the globe and their relatively short time on the market, these are exceedingly rare, much rarer than their blue card predecessors; thus, the black cards have always been considered "grails" of the WWF LJN line, and are highly sought after - especially MOC. This auction presents an excellent opportunity to add a rare 1989 Wrestling Superstars Black Card MOC to your collection.

Here we have an LJN Black Card showstopper: former WWF Intercontinental Champion “Ravishing” Rick Rude. Like our other two Black Card lots, the card is superb with amazing color front and back. The only blemishes of note are located at the top corners on the front. The bubble is clear and retains perfect form. There are no cracks or dents, and the bubble received a phenomenal 85 subgrade! The Rick Rude action figure is exceptional, with the tattoo on bicep presenting “like new”. CAS has equipped this piece with a laser-thin acrylic bubble support - essentially guaranteeing the plastic bubble will never lift from the card. Overall, wonderful specimen that is extremely difficult to come by, especially in this condition.  Encapsulated by CAS (75, 75-85-85), #10183616
