Dating back to 1978, and following Kenner’s first mail-away redemption (Lot #20), Star Wars action figures began hitting retail shelves.  The first twelve, now known as 12 Back-A, were an instant sensation and were followed by two subsequent releases known as 12 Back-B and 12 Back-C.  LCG Auctions is proud to present an exclusive offering of the complete run of all twelve of the first-release, 12 Back-A, Star Wars action figures from Kenner.  Historically significant, these twelve action figures are credited with helping launch the most iconic toy line of all-time.

 A rare “Made in Taiwan” first-release carded R2D2.  Our 12 Back-A example is very clean exhibiting few flaws.  There is evidence of a price sticker that once adorned the front over the S in Star and W in Wars and a very minor bubble ding in the top front corner.  Aside from those minor imperfections, this one is very nice, sporting desirable subgrades all 80 and above.  R2 is a timeless classic, and as such, we expect collectors to pay special attention to his first-release when it hits the auction block.  Encapsulated by AFA (80, 80-80-85), #16402370
