Highly coveted MISB Shockwave from Series 2 in 1985. One of the most elusive factory sealed Transformers in the G1 line. High grade examples of 80 and higher rarely come to market. In fact, not a single factory sealed example graded 80 or higher has hit the auction block. We combed through the auction archives and the highest graded example we found was an AFA 75+ (no rubsign) that realized $14,278 in March of 2025.
It is our great privilege to present the very first AFA 80 example to hit the auction block!
Fantastic display value on this one. The front of the box is exceptional. Imperfections are present but they don’t jump out at you. Most notable is a vein found on the upper left side of the flap. Because of the black color, it is well hidden. No price tag sticker or sticker residue/imprint. Side and bottom panels look great. The reverse looks excellent with the exception of the flap crease that plagues so many examples. Still, a very, very nice box that is commensurate to its impressive “80” subgrade. Each end is factory tape sealed with tape firmly attached (very rare!). There is no colorbreak whatsoever along either of the front edges. The large display window is crystal clear and showcases the awesome laser within. The Shockwave laser itself is in mint condition. A remarkable piece, one that high-grade G1 collectors have been waiting quite a long time for.
