AFA 95-95-95, First Release Snake Eyes w/ Timber
Pop 1, Highest Graded. None graded higher or equivalent
In 1982, following a six year hiatus, Hasbro revived the G.I. Joe toy-line with 3.75-inch figures, branding it: A Real American Hero. The relaunch was wildly successful becoming what many consider the most iconic toy-line of the 1980’s. The ARAH brand and it’s characters remain popular to this day.
There is no carded figure more popular amongst collectors than the iconic Snake Eyes with Timber. The original release of Snake Eyes with Timber dates back to 1985 when the ARAH toyline was at its peak, thoroughly embedded in popular culture. Snake Eyes action figures quickly sold out of stores across America and kids ripped open the carded package so that they could play with their favorite ninja.
Presented is the highest graded first release Snake Eyes with Timber in existence – Population One (95-95-95)! This first release 34-back example, featuring thirty-four characters on the reverse, was graded by the hobby’s leading grading service, AFA, utilizing their current three tier grading system that includes subgrades: it earned an overall 95 grade including an unsurpassed 95 assigned to each of the three subgrades. Unpunched, the vibrant colors and gloss to both the card and figure supply a factory fresh sheen to the aesthetics. This first release card can be identified by its peach file card on the reverse (as opposed to the grey file card on later releases), as well as the large flat G.I. Joe logo on the front of the card (as opposed to the 3D logo on later releases). Both the figure and weapon bubbles retain perfect form and are crystal clear. The Snake Eyes figure is flawless standing perfectly upright and it’s legs are tight and without movement.
An “investment grade” first-release example of the most popular version of the most beloved action figure in the entire ARAH line, and one of the most recognizable and desirable toys of the 1980’s. This is a true “pop 1” with no others graded higher or equivalent, and it is unquestionably one of the most exciting collectible’s that LCG has had the privilege to present to our global audience.
