Outside of the United States, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles had quite a few unique variations in the way they were branded. For this figure specifically, it is a French release “Tortues” 10 back Shredder. The cardbacks for the early French release only had two sets of art: the Turtles (and good guys) and the baddies. The way they got around printing individual front card art for each figure was simply by applying a sticker on the back in the area for the character portrait. It’s believed that this allowed them to get to market quicker. We see this in other European markets as well for early TMNT mint on card. These variants make for difficult hunting and are sometimes hard to find in high grade. This figure graded an excellent 85 from UKG and hits all the checkboxes for obscurity and condition for the refined TMNT collector.
