Perhaps the most highly anticipated item in our 3+ year history: the 1984 Transformers Megatron AFA 85-85-85. The original Megatron toy is Walther P38 WWII German handgun. Today, this toy is on a list of banned items on planes in the U.S., and a special license is required to own this toy in Australia. Due to changing societal norms, it is doubtful an item like this will ever be made again. To add to the lore, Megatron is among the franchise's most iconic characters and a widely recognized villain in popular culture. The character has appeared on a variety of merchandise, such as toys, clothing and collectible items, theme park attractions, and more. In fact, Hall of Fame wide receiver Calvin Johnson of the Detroit Lions derived his nickname from the character.
Extremely rare in factory sealed condition, this is the best example to hit the open market in years. Freshly graded in June 2023, this one achieved nearly impossible subgrades of "triple 85". Nearly free of imperfections, our example exhibits amazing color and gloss, sharp corners, and a clear window with mint toy within. No flap crease, no sticker residue, no edge wear. Factory tape seals each end. Immaculate! One of the most sought after vintage toys in the entire hobby, and extremely difficult to obtain. Get your popcorn ready because we are expecting fireworks from high-end collectors and investors alike on July 16th. Encapsulated by AFA (85, 85-85-85), #12946433
