When it comes to collectible playsets, Castle Grayskull is in a class of its own. With mythology essential to the Masters of the Universe franchise, there is simply no other playset that compares. Elite collectors are keenly aware. It had been many years since an “investment grade” Castle Grayskull had hit the market. Finally last August, a glorious AFA 90, the highest graded example, hit the auction block and realized an incredible $209,410. The price paid set an all-time record for any production toy (across all toylines, including Star Wars). Aside from the record setter, not a single “investment grade” Castle Grayskull has ever appeared at auction. Until now…

We are thrilled to offer the most talked about and treasured production item in the entire hobby: a remarkable “investment grade” Castle Grayskull in AFA 85 condition. Outside of the record-breaking AFA 90, this is the highest graded factory sealed example ever to appear at auction.

The story of this piece is somewhat miraculous. According to our consigner, it was originally intended as a Christmas gift. For whatever reason, it was never given out and remained wrapped in a blanket in a climate control attic space in Eastern Washington for nearly three decades. It was eventually found and acquired by our consignor who sent it to AFA for grading and authentication.

Condition is impeccable. Outstanding color on the front panel. The reverse, showcasing 12 early MOTU action figures, is remarkably white, free of toning. Few imperfections to be found. See photos. Each end is firmly factory sealed.

This example certainly ranks among the very of best of a limited surviving population. A monumentally important piece being presented for public auction for the very first time.
